It's hard to write about the people I love. How to possibly put them to words? I gave it my best shot here. Dear reader, I'd like to introduce you to my friend Greg.
This might be my favorite thing you’ve written. There’s so much here. Subtle. Deep, invisible, laced in the lines like fascia beneath the skin. Makes me want to hug my friends. Makes me want to be a brave enough person to have friends like this.
I think every piece I've written is my favorite piece of written, but this one is special to me, too. Love sharing that with you, and knowing what it evokes in you. More hugs and bravery all around, yes!
Thank you for finding more space in my heart for myself through the way you treasure Greg. I also love how you spoke of grief as a part of love you haven’t experienced yet. Reframes my own grief in a way that feels easier to accept and hold.
Jonathan, I love the way you frame it up in the first sentence here. Makes me think, who's reading, who's writing, who's finding, who's found. A gift of a glimpse into your side of things, thank you. And I'm truly honored the piece helps with the grief part of the love. Honored to walk with you here.
.... like a freak sergeant in the army of truth and love” elicited in me a smile - first for its inventiveness and second for nailing the sentiment.
We are all warriors in the world of discovering the true nature of reality.
Stereotypes are a layer of conditioning that limit the truth we seek. It’s so refreshing to read about and be with men who share the love in their hearts.
There are several Casco Bay spots that fit your description. I imagine the campsite you mention is Jewel Island. If so, it’s a fabulous place.
Nothing like homie love
Felt the warmth and love you share❤️🩹❤️
This one got me good ❤️

Beautifully written, Andrew. Thanks for letting us peek into the window of your friendship with Greg.
How tall is he, if you have to look up at him?? Asking for a friend. 🤣
Thanks, Lori. And yes, Greg's a giant in many senses of the word. I'll keep the specs secret so his legend will only grow :)
Grief is love. Love is grief. Beautiful piece.
Thank you, Stephen.

Thank you!
Love that you liked that line, Randy. I did, too! Good to be in this battalion of truth and love with you, brother, uncle, grandfather.
