I am howling and crying and laughing and brought to the thin skin of my own existence. So fragile, hilarious, heart-breaking and utterly and completely spectacular. As always, thanks for giving us a window into ourselves. LOVE YOU, mom

Thanks for being my mom, Mom. You remember that day in the kitchen. It was actually the dining room but kitchen sounded better, stylistically.

Just what I needed to read this morning, Andrew :) Helps me be compassionate to my younger self.... definitely not my current, self, though, no way does that guy need it, he's way too evolved to have any thoughts or experiences like this in recent memory. Definitely not.

On an unrelated note, Andrew, can I publish my cell-phone number here in the comments? You know, just in case female readers of a spiritual persuasion might want to get together for a totally unattached time with a man 100% free of self-delusion?

Compassion, so necessary on this journey to the beloved, inside and out. And a Little Courtyard romance? Hey, you never know...

“It’s time for me to deeply invest in loving myself in a way that i have NEVER done before and not look to men to validate my existence.”

Such wisdom from a young woman!

I’m sorry for the pain that you endured. I understand the loneliness.

Without seeing the second half of the story yet, I can pretty much figure that facing your own pain and growth made you who you are today. And I think Tana was definitely worth the wait. ❤️

Thanks for your understanding, Lori. Writing (and being read) helps me move it all. So appreciate your presence here. And yes, it was all worth the wait!

I hope it’s OK that I was overcome by Gales of laughter several times. Am Totally tuning in to part 2. So much easier to laugh, knowing the happy “begending”(thanks Therese) you’re living!

I hope it’s OK that I was over Come by giggles and laughter several times…

“Oh, sweetheart, I know what that’s like, . . . I remember that. “.

And the part about you meditating, or trying to! So good! And that shit about “do you sit /who’s your teacher – what is your lineage”. Too good.

Happily, turning in to part two! What a great story. And so much easier to read because I know about the happy ending.

Thanks, Leslie! Love knowing it got some giggles out of you, I like this piece for that. And yes, I wouldn't have been able to write this piece without Tana. Thank God/dess.

Oh, Andrew, I just went back to look again at “nightshade hair neat to the nape of her neck”… such an exquisite sentence, and then I came back and the comment I had written had disappeared. Seems I’ve learned that before… dang! Anyway, I love this essay and I love the way your writing is so close to the bone of your own experience, how you fill it out and in, and how relatable it is, how your writing can bring us closer to ourselves, a beautiful offering. And yes, everything your dear mom said so keenly. And so nice to know where you are in your life now. Love! 🩵💫

I love the voice in your writing, Andrew: so funny, so honest, so willing to admit to the longings, foibles, pretensions of our minds. It is rare we get to have such a clear peek at these internal thoughts and peeking this way brings such compassion and empathy to your reader...oh that's me! I look forward to reading these and as tomorrow is Friday, I will sit you next to me as I write and recall your writing and allow it to inspire my own voice.
