Announcement: "To Be Frank" Debuts
My best friend (and wife), Tana, just launched her Substack page. I highly recommend it.
Dear readers in this Little Courtyard,
I have fantastic news for you this morning. One wants to be in the vicinity when my wife sends it, and yesterday, Tana sent it. She debuted on Substack. Her page is called “To Be Frank.”
This is fantastic news because Tana is a fantastic person, and writer, and woman, and artist, and soul. I, personally, can’t get enough of her. So, finding out that she’s making more of herself available in this way, through her writing, was pretty much the best thing that’s happened to me since she said “I do” at the altar about a month ago now.
Her first post, “Clearing the Bar,” is a moving tribute to those parts of us that whisper ludicrously (but somehow convincingly) that we have nothing beautiful to offer the world. “Don’t bother writing,” this part of us says. “And definitely don’t share your writing.” And so we don’t write, or sing, or make that beautiful thing, and God only knows how much is lost.
If you want a jolt of inspiration, read this post. If you want to see a woman breaking ferociously and lovingly out of her cage of internalized, self-sabotaging illusions, read this post. If you want a hit of hell yeah, read this post. I can’t wait to see where she takes us. Wherever she goes, I’m going with her. You know I was the first Founding Member of To Be Frank, ya suckers. No one can ever take that from me. Y’all can still subscribe, though, free or paid. I’d get on this bus however you can. Sit on the roof if you have to. It’s gonna be good. It already is.
May you, too, send it today. A little moment of break-through. Or a little kindness, when break-through isn’t ready to happen. We’re all in this together.
Yours and always,
Andrew
I subscribed… you both get equal time 😀🤗💕
Lovely piece—keep writing!
